Everything You Need for Riding in the Himalayas
Riding in Nepal is an incredible experience, but the terrain, altitude, and changing mountain weather mean it’s important to come prepared.
Below is our recommended kit list for your Yeti Adventures mountain biking trip. Some items are absolutely essential for safety and riding comfort, while others are highly recommended to help make the experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Medication & Personal Health
The altitude, riding intensity, and remote nature of some areas in Nepal mean it’s worth bringing a small personal medication kit.
We recommend considering:
- Personal prescription medication
- Pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol
- Blister plasters
- Rehydration tablets
- Anti-diarrhoea medication
- Electrolyte tablets
- Basic first aid supplies
- Altitude medication such as Diamox (Acetazolamide)
Diamox is commonly used to help prevent or reduce the effects of altitude sickness on higher elevation trips. We strongly recommend speaking to your doctor or travel health specialist before travelling to discuss whether it’s suitable for you.
If you take any regular medication, always carry it in your hand luggage and bring extra in case of delays.
Recommended Comfort & Travel Extras
These items aren’t essential, but they’ll make life much easier during the trip.
- Chamois cream
- Energy bars or favourite trail snacks
- International plug adapter
- Small travel laundry detergent
- Lightweight travel towel
- Warm hat and gloves for cooler evenings
- Small emergency toilet paper stash

- Sun cap or hat
- Swimwear for lakes, hotels, or recovery days

Bringing Your Own Mountain Bike
Nepal’s trails can be rough, rocky, technical, and demanding on equipment, so bringing a solid, good-quality mountain bike is extremely important.
We strongly recommend a modern trail or enduro-style mountain bike that is properly serviced and ready for demanding terrain. Reliable brakes, strong tyres, and a dependable drivetrain will make a huge difference to your experience in the mountains.
If you’re unsure whether your current bike is suitable for the trip, just contact the Yeti Adventures team and we’ll happily advise you.

A Quick Word on Packing
Temperatures in Nepal can vary massively depending on altitude and time of day. You may start the morning in freezing mountain air and finish the afternoon riding in warm sunshine.
Layering is the key.
